Competition for rides on Taxi.Rio is now governed by clearer and more balanced rules. The app has implemented a new automated criterion to determine which driver will serve a passenger when multiple drivers accept the same request simultaneously. This update aims to correct system imbalances, reduce unfair advantages, and discourage irregular practices, fostering fair competition among professionals.
With this change, the ride will be assigned to the driver closest to the passenger, based on the shortest estimated arrival time. In the event of a tie, the system prioritizes the driver who has gone the longest without completing a ride. This logic improves the balance of ride distribution and creates more opportunities for drivers who have been waiting on the platform for longer periods.
The entire process happens automatically within the app. When two or more drivers accept the same ride at the same time, the system resolves the dispute and selects the winner based on the established criteria. Corporate and standard rides follow separate flows, which preserves the balance between the different types of service offered.
Certain situations directly influence a driver's position in the dispatch queue. Ride cancellations or invalidations cause the driver to lose priority, and the request is considered finalized for the purpose of this rule. Conversely, missed, declined, or lost competitive requests, as well as cancellations initiated by the passenger, do not affect the dispatch logic.
In addition to the new selection criteria, Taxi.Rio is announcing a set of rules focused on security and platform access control. Soon, vehicle-based control, identified by license plate, will be implemented. Under this rule, only one driver may remain in "Available" status per vehicle. If another driver using the same license plate attempts to set their status to "Available," the driver currently in that status will be automatically switched to "Busy."
An exception applies when the driver is currently on a ride or en route to pick up a passenger. In this situation, the second user will be unable to change their status to "Available." This measure enhances operational control, prevents usage conflicts, and reinforces safety for both drivers and passengers using the app.
The new Taxi.Rio security rules are already in the production phase and are being rolled out gradually to drivers, ensuring a safer, more controlled, and stable environment for all professionals and users on the platform.
