Starting today, August 1st, the Taxi.Rio app will display a welcome and guidance message focused on combating violence against women. This initiative is part of the Agosto Lilás (Lilac August) campaign, promoted by the Special Secretariat for Policies for Women and Care (SPM-Rio) in partnership with IplanRio, and will remain active until the 15th of this month.
In this month that marks the 18th anniversary of the Maria da Penha Law, the initiative represents a concrete step toward expanding access to information and engaging society in the fight against gender-based violence. Whenever a passenger requests a ride through the app, they will be presented with the following message:
“Violence against women? Seek help at www.mulher.rio”
The initiative reinforces IplanRio's commitment to using technology to support public policies for protection, inclusion, and care.
The website www.mulher.rio — developed by IplanRio in partnership with CIVITAS — serves as a secure, free platform designed to help women recognize situations of violence and quickly find the nearest support services.
Using simple questions and accessible language, the site identifies the type of violence and displays a support network that includes health units, specialized police stations, emergency channels, and other essential resources.
We continue working together to promote care, listening, and social transformation through technology.
